A NINE-year-old boy who went missing after failing to return to his home in East Lothian has been traced.

Austin McGovern was last seen at around 7.05pm last night near Rowan Street in Dunbar.

He was due to return to his home on Summerfield Road from Rowan Street but cops were called after he failed to show up.

His reported disappearance sparked a huge search with police scattered around the area near to his home and school.

But cops tonight confirmed he has been found safe following extensive enquiries.

A post from East Lothian Police read: “Austin McGovern, from Dunbar who had been missing since 7.05pm on Friday, 9 9月, 2022 has been traced safe and enquiries are ongoing.

Superintendent Arron Clinkscales said: “We are pleased to confirm that Austin has been traced and his family have been updated. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public and media for sharing our appeals.”
