FOR 25 years she has made headlines across the globe as Posh Spice.
But over the past few months, something strange has happened to Victoria Beckham… she’s morphed into Sporty.
The 48-year-old Spice Girl has undergone a dramatic fitness overhaul, replacing her erstwhile scrawny limbs with impressively honed, strong, capable ones.
So dedicated is Sporty mk II, she even took took top, London-based personal trainer, Bobby Rich, with her on holiday.
And the secret to her newfound physique? Judo. (Sort-of)
Last night former Team GB judo competitor Bobby said: “Victoria’s training is a priority to her and her dedication is nothing short of impressive.
“She is with me in the gym five days a week – and even if she’s travelling there are no excuses, and we move to online sessions; either way she’s putting the work in.
“My methodology and application towards Victoria’s training is based on my own conditioning programming I used when competing.
“I treat the year as a season and work through different training blocks – identifying peaks and recovery phases to get the most out of the incredible efforts Victoria puts into each session, mentally and physically.
“The biggest difference in Victoria’s training is the introduction of strength training and functional movements, such as overhead squats, cleans, and snatches.”

For those giggling at the back, “snatches” are a highly skilled weightlifting movement involving a dumbbell being lifted overhead from floor to ceiling, primarily using the core muscles, shoulders and glutes.
Squats and cleans are also frequently used in CrossFit – a gruelling sport which produces some of the planet’s fittest athletes.
In a typical session, Victoria can expect to burn around 600 calories – and will keep on burning them once her session has finished.
Two years off her 50th birthday, the designer is also now prioritising her joints and mobility.
Adds Bobby: “It’s not all big lifts and complex movements.
“We put a lot of emphasis on the smaller movements and accessory work, which complements the major muscle groups and focuses heavily on joint health.
“This comes in the form of functional movements using bodyweight, bands and ankles weights.
“Victoria is a great example of my two fundamental teachings: accountability and consistency.
“No-one is more accountable for your own health than you. And consistency is where real progress and change is made – it’s what makes it a lifestyle, not a habit.
“In a nutshell, Victoria trains hard, but she also trains smart.”
Victoria’s training is a priority to her and her dedication is nothing short of impressive.
Despite staying on a yacht – a vessel not exactly conducive to calorie burn – the mum of four has still been working out daily during her ongoing summer jaunt around the Mediterranean.
And yesterday she posted a photo of her playing tennis with 11-year-old daughter, Harper.
Meanwhile husband David – himself no slouch in the gym – recently posted a hilarious clip to his 75 million followers of Victoria lunging along the deck as he enjoyed a leisurely coffee.
While the size 8 star has long been terrifyingly rigid about her eating – think smoothie for breakfast, half an avocado and salmon for lunch, and grilled seabass with broccoli for dinner – it’s her training which has seen the greatest overhaul.
Gone are the monotonous 10k treadmill sessions, and steady state, low intensity workouts.
Like her former England captain husband, Victoria now trains like an athlete.
Three years ago she also launched her own sportswear range with Reebok and after once declaring she would never be seen dead in flats, is now regularly papped out and about in her trainers.
Indeed, a cursory glance of her Instagram shows both her newfound commitment to fitness – and muscles that weren’t there 12 months ago.
While the ex-Man Utd midfielder is famed for his abs, his wife is rapidly catching him up in the obliques department.
By increasing her muscle mass, Victoria has bolstered her metabolism – effectively meaning she can eat more.
Similarly Posh is no longer scared to tuck into healthy fats – like nuts, avocado and oily fish.
This is despite David recently claiming she had eaten the “same meal for the past 25 years”.
No-one is more accountable for your own health than you. And consistency is where real progress and change is made – it’s what makes it a lifestyle, not a habit.
In response, the former Brit winner said: “What he meant is that he’s never met anyone who’s more disciplined with the way that they eat.
“I do drink alcohol, unless I have a reason not to. I’ll detox from anything for three to six months where I won’t drink. I’m quite extreme in anything I do, whether it’s eating or working out or drinking or not drinking.”
In addition, the star regularly sees Los Angeles-based dermatologist Dr Harold Lancer who has put her on a skin-plumping diet.
She takes supplements including Augustinus Bader (for skin) and, after rising at 6am to exercise, drinks apple cider vinegar first thing.
She also puts collagen peptide powder in her (black) coffee which is said to promote nail and hair growth.
Happily, Posh isn’t too puritanical – and still tucks in, with gusto, to the odd glass of tequila (good for minimising hangovers, apparently) and fine wines.
The star, who also has a home gym, is also a fan of a new Gold’s Gym Diamond One device, an intense training session – recently telling Vogue: “I look at it and feel physically sick.”
It is understood she also has occasional workout sessions over Zoom with Gwyneth Paltrow’s American PT, Tracy Anderson.
Last night a friend added: “Once upon a time, Victoria only cared about looking skinny.
“She came from the Kate Moss school of thinking: ‘nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’.
“But there’s been a seismic cultural shift of late, with more and more women wanting to look strong not skinny – and Victoria has very much jumped on this bandwagon.
“Nowadays, she wants to look athletic, and be a great role model for women.
“For the past few years she’s been a dedicated runner, but over the last few months she’s added weight training, Reformer pilates, and mobility into her schedule.
“She’s never been so lean, whilst also putting on about 2kg in pure muscle.
“Victoria looks and feels amazing – and the girls have been joking on WhatsApp that there are now two Sporty Spices in the group!”
