POLICE are hunting a gunman who opened fire at a Brooklyn subway station on Tuesday, wounding at least 13 人们.
Multiple law enforcement sources said the suspect fled wearing a construction vest and a gas mask.
The gunman was described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 180 磅, three senior law enforcement officials told 全国广播公司.
He may have distracted rush hour commuters with a smoke canister thrown onto the platform, the outlet reports.
Eyewitnesses also report the gunman may have jumped onto the tracks after opening fire.
Police were still hunting the shooter in subway tunnels more than an hour after the first shots were fired.

Fire crews first responded to reports of smoke at the 36th Street station in Sunset Park 大约 8:30是.
There they found multiple people shot and undetonated devices, a spokesperson said.
The New York City Police Department later confirmed that there were “no active explosive devices” at the station.
The fire department said 13 people were injured, but there were no details on what those injuries entailed.
Photos from the scene showed several people bloodied on the platform.
Further details were not immediately available.
Trains servicing that station were delayed during the morning rush hour.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ office did not immediately have more details.
Adams was at the mayor’s residence Tuesday morning and was being briefed, according to a spokesperson.
Police warned New Yorkers to avoid the area and to expect emergency vehicles and delays.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says trains on the D, N and R lines were delayed amid an unspecified investigation.
A video posted on the Citizen app showed a heavy law enforcement presence at the scene.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul said she has been briefed on the situation and will work with law enforcement on the investigation.
