FORMER Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is unresponsive and fighting for his life after being brutally shot in the chest during a bloody assassination attempt, 报道说.
National broadcaster NHK aired footage showing Abe, 67, collapsed on the street in Nara, 日本, with several security guards running toward him, 美联社报告.
Abe collapsed holding his chest after reportedly suffering two gunshot wounds that left him bloodied on the ground.
The former prime minister showed no vital signs, NHK quoted firefighters as saying.
He was unconscious while he was rushed to the hospital after the attack, Bloomberg 已报告.
Police captured Yamagami Tetsuya, 41, for allegedly attempting murder, NHK said.

ABE’S LEGACY
Abe resigned as prime minister in 2020 once he “brought stability to Japan after a revolving door of six administrations,” Bloomberg said.
The 67-year-old first served as prime minister from 2006 到 2007 and then again from 2012 到 2020.
He is the longest-serving prime minister in Japan’s history.
