BRITAIN handed Ukraine a £1billion arms boost yesterday — as the West built its own Iron Curtain against Russia.
British spy planes will patrol the Black Sea while Whitehall, Scottish and Welsh departmental underspending will be diverted to provide new kit to Ukraine.
More Typhoon jets will fly to Cyprus and a carrier strike group will be offered to Nato.
Brushing away fears the UK will miss Nato spending targets durch 2025, Boris Johnson said the cash should be a wake-up call to the “increasingly barbaric” Kremlin.
He called Der russische Mogul trennt sich von Chelsea “evil” and a “pariah”.

The extra support for Ukraine also allows the UK to claim it is spending 2.3 per cent of output — despite Nato saying it is only 2.12.
But Defence Secretary Ben Wallace admitted the difference was not “core defence spending” as he again pushed for more Treasury cash by 2024.
He said Russia had lost 25,000 troops in 120 days and added: “They’re grinding at First World War levels of advancement, a few metres a day.
“It’s a pretty big disaster and they haven’t even begun to occupy.”
