Watch ‘best interview ever’ as jockey can’t contain excitement at winner and fans call for her to have own TV show

THIS is the brilliant interview racing fans labelled ‘the best ever’ in 2021 and led to calls for the jockey to be given her own TV show.

Amateur rider Rosie Margarson was absolutely beaming with pride and excitement after winning at Ascot back in July.

The 26-year-old social media executive rode Spirited Guest to victory in a 7f handicap just ten weeks after breaking her ankle.

She joked she would break it all over again if it meant riding another winner in one of the most prestigious races for amateurs.

But as good as her performance was on the horse trained by her dad George, it was her interview afterwards that had punters in stitches for weeks afterwards.

Speaking of her joy and everything else, an out-of-breath and excited Rosie said: “God, I love this horse.

“I rode him at home for a bit and he taught me so much about getting on the bridle and when we hit the front I thought, ‘we’re going to run out of puff’.

“I didn’t want to get hold of him too early because he can be a bit cheeky. So I left him, left him, left him.

“I thought, ‘I’ve got to start pushing him otherwise it will look like I’m not trying’.

‘I COULD HEAR THE GIRLS SCREAMING’

“And he kept going!

“I kept hearing the girls behind me screaming and hollering and I thought, ‘oh my God they’re going to catch me – and then they didn’t!’

“I celebrated a bit hard. But why not?

“He’s, God, he’s a dude. A dude of a horse. If he wants to win he’ll win.

“To be fair amateur riding probably suits him because he knows he’s in charge.

“At no point did I say, ‘Jimmy, we’re going a bit quick’.

“He went ‘shut up’ and I was like ‘OK, we’ll go this pace’.”

Rosie, who has not raced since February, bagged £6,160 for connections with the win and praised her sister Katie for helping her in her recovery – while also having a cheeky laugh at her expense.

The jockey added: “It’s ten weeks since I hit the deck and broke my ankle and here I am. It’s all worth the physio, the pain, everything. It’s been worth it.

“I’ll break it again if I get to do this again!”

“Katie’s been training me and I can’t explain how much she does for me. She is my pride and joy.

“I’m deeply sad that when she was an amateur she didn’t get this opportunity and I wish it was her but… it was me!

“Mum’s at home looking after the dogs. I’m sure my granda will be on the phone any minute, running round the village screaming.”

Punters watching the clip were beside themselves with laughter at Rosie’s interview.

One said: “Best. Interview. Ever.”

Another commented: “Rosie, what a character. Great for the sport.”
