What is Murder in the Alps?

The documentary Murder in the Alps is a three part series exploring the murder of the al-Hilli family en Sylvain Mollier.

Op September 5, 2012, Saad al-Hilli, 50, was shot twice in the head in his car near Lake Annecy in the French Alps.

His wife Iqbal, 47, and mother-in-law Suhaila al-Allaf, 74, were executed along with Saad, while his daughter Zainab was shot in the shoulder, beaten and left for dead.

Daughters Zainab, sewe, and Zeena, vier, both survived the attack.

Cyclist and ex RAF pilot Sylvain Mollier, 45, was also shot seven times nearby.

Who features in the Channel 4 documentary series?

Die TV documentary will be fronted by Zaid al-Hilli, brother of Saad who was initially considered under investigation.

Zaid was arrested for conspiracy to murder in 2013 before being freed without charge.

He has always maintained his innocence and in 2021 het Sondag aan The Sun gesê: “The French authorities tried to hide the truth.

They are culpable in it.

“I think they know who was behind it but there’s some influential people behind Mollier.

If there’s no resolution, I can’t see how one can get over it.”

Joining him are retired Surrey detective Mark Preston and Tom Parry.

When does it start?

Murder in the Alps starts tonight (Sondag, Junie 26) om 21:00.

Each episode will be released at 9pm nightly, finishing on Tuesday, Junie 28.
