WINTERWATCH’S Chris Packham left Michaela Strachan fuming with a cheeky plastic surgery dig.
The pair are into their second week of hosting the BBC show, and last night, gave fans an update on a rat they had named Ray and who had caught viewers’ attention last week.
Ray has been seeking food along the river, and has so far managed to avoid being ‘ripped apart’ by a tawny owl who is also lurking around looking for its next meal.
After showing viewers some more footage of a rat, which had a wonky tail like Ray’s, Michaela, 55, was convinced it was him and that he was alive and well.
她说: “Well there’s a rat there, look at that tail. Yes it has a kink in it so that is Ray the rat and yes he did survive the weekend I am very pleased to tell you.”
She explained how they thought it was a male rat as they aren’t as social as female rats and Ray had been on his own a lot.
But as she finished speaking, 克里斯, 60, had a look on his face which showed he didn’t agree about Ray’s fate.
他说: “I don’t think that’s Ray because his tail isn’t as kinky as it was when we were looking at him last week unless he’s been to a cosmetic surgeon or something who has sorted his tail out. I don’t think it’s Ray.”
Michaela was astounded and said: “不, but the first one’s tail clearly had a kink in it and I think it depends what angle you are looking at Ray the rat.”
But Chris remained adamant and told his co-star: “I think Ray the rat has met a grizzly end if I am being honest with you.”
The cameras then went live to the riverbank to see if they could spot Ray alive or dead, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Michaela continued to have hope for the plucky rat with the wonky tail and said: “But he’s a survivor though, he’s going to be there until Friday I am telling you now.”
But Chris wasn’t convinced and said the river was “completely and utterly ratless”.
Winterwatch continues tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.
