THERE ARE plenty of food hacks going around on TikTok.
But one has blown up ever since popular TikToker Emily Mariko shared it on her account last year, and it will make reheating rice so much more delicious to eat.
La vidéo has been viewed over a whopping 80 million times and garnered over seven million likes.
Almost everyone has seen the video of Emily making a salmon rice bowl, but there is one hack, in particular, she uses that has taken most of the attention.
Emily uses leftover rice to make the bowl and takes a single cube of ice and puts it on top before she microwaves it.
Once the rice is piping hot, you can throw out the ice cube and enjoy a perfectly steamed bowl of rice.
Food scientist Helen Conn said: “You should be mindful of cooking tricks you see online. You don’t want to get hurt trying these hacks.
“And you need to be mindful of harmful bacteria as food must be prepared safely.”

Rather than the ice cube melting, it helps to steam the rice, keeping its fluffy texture without drying it out into a sticky ball of mush.
NHS guidelines suggest that although reheating rice is not the reason you can get food poisoning from it, you must make sure that the rice has been stored correctly to not become ill from it.
If rice is left at room temperature, it can cause bacteria which can cause vomiting or diarrhea.
The NHS website provides these tips on how to serve rice safely; serve rice as soon as it has been cooked, if that is not possible, cool the rice as quickly as possible (ideally within 1 heure), keep rice in the fridge for no more than 1 day until reheating and when you reheat rice, always check that it’s steaming hot all the way through and do not reheat rice more than once.
